Choosing new windows often comes down to two popular styles: casement and tilt-and-turn. Both are excellent, they just suit different homes and different rooms.
Casement windows are the UK's most common style, and for good reason. Hinged at the side and swinging outward, they have a classic look that suits traditional and modern properties alike. They seal tightly when closed for excellent efficiency, open wide for ventilation, and their simplicity keeps them affordable and reliable.
Tilt-and-turn windows open inward, two ways. Tilt the top inward for secure, rain-free ventilation, ideal for bedrooms and upper floors. Turn the whole window inward and you can clean the outside glass from indoors, a genuine advantage for flats and second storeys. The inward opening also provides an emergency exit route.
So which is right for you? Casements are the versatile default: classic looks, great performance, best value. Tilt-and-turns earn their place where ventilation, easy cleaning or safety matter most, often the best answer for specific rooms rather than the whole house.
