Did you know that roofline products are just as important as your double glazing? Fascia boards and soffits play a significant role in protecting your home, acting as the barrier that stops moisture penetrating your roof. Here's what they are and why they matter.
The fascia is the long, straight board running along the lower edge of the roof, fixed to the ends of the rafters. It does heavy practical work: supporting the bottom row of roof tiles, carrying the full weight of your guttering, no small job in heavy rain, and sealing the roof edge against the weather.
The soffit sits beneath the fascia, bridging the gap between the fascia and the wall. It seals the underside of the roof overhang against wind, rain and unwanted visitors like birds and insects, and a ventilated soffit keeps air moving through the roof space, preventing the condensation that leads to damp and rot.
When fascias and soffits fail, problems spread fast: leaking gutters, rotting timbers, damp in the roof space. Modern uPVC roofline products end the cycle, weatherproof, rot-proof and never needing repainting.
